Learn How to Tie Flies
Beginning Fly Tying Class
Fly tying is an important skill for any angler to have. Learn how to
replicate common bugs and catch fish on flies you made yourself! In our introductory course, you’ll learn about fly fishing tools like vises, bobbins, thread, scissors, hooks, beads, eyes, and whip finishers. You’ll also learn to use hackle, hair, wool, stretch tubing, foam, and more to recreate bugs worthy of a whopper.
Each session is comprised of four 2-hour long classes. Vise, tools, and materials all provided. Class will be located at Confluence Fly Shop.
Session 1: Wednesdays in January
Beginning Fly Tying
January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th: 6pm – 8pm
$80 / Student (Includes equipment and materials)
Session 2: Tuesdays in February
Beginning Fly Tying
February 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th: 6pm – 8pm

Session 3: Thursdays in March

Learn How to Tie Cooler Flies
Intermediate Fly Tying Class
If you’ve got the basics of fly tying down, level up your fly fishing repertoire with some advanced fly fishing flies. In this course, we’ll teach you how to tie flies that require additional skill. You’ll also leave with a greater understanding of what makes a fly look like a bug in the water, and what characteristics fish in Central Oregon find difficult to resist. It’s all about the presentation.
