DESCRIPTION:Many people are intrigued by the sport of fly fishing.  But let’s be honest\, as a beginner\, getting into the sport without a plan might seem confusing or perhaps even intimidating.  You are not alone!  This class was developed just for people like yourselves and is designed to teach fly fishing the right way\, the first time! \nWhether you end up stalking trout in a crystal-clear mountain stream; largemouth bass in a local farm pond; or bonefish cruising the shallow\, white\, sandy flats\, of some tropical saltwater beach… our goal is to make getting into fly fishing simple\, fun\, and accessible to everyone. \nFly Fishing 101 is a fantastic introduction to the fundamentals of the sport. \nTopics covered will include: \n\nproper selection\, assembly\, and rigging of the fly rod\, reel\, and lines;\na basic introduction to casting;\nlearning to tie essential knots;\nan overview of fly patterns\, what they imitate\, and how they are fished;\nand suggestions of where you might go and what you might do with your newfound skills!\n\nAll necessary equipment will be provided for this class\, but once you’ve completed Fly Fishing 101\, you will receive discounts towards the purchase of fly fishing gear of your own.  We at Confluence Fly Shop are here to provide the equipment and guidance you need to make the most of every day out on the water. \nJoin the thousands of satisfied beginners who’ve trusted our method and taken the first step on their fly-fishing journey! \n* AM classes: 9am – 12pm \n* PM classes: 1am – 4pm \nAvailability is limited to 12 students per class! SUMMARY:Beginner Fly Tying Class - February Session #4
DESCRIPTION:As part of the natural progression of fly fishing\, many of you may be getting interested in learning how to tie your own flies! We at Confluence Fly Shop are proud to offer our “Beginner Fly Tying” course. Each “session” consists of four\, two-hour long classes\, which are taught by our expert staff and take place in the shop. The fee of $80/student covers the cost of tools and materials for the duration of the class. During these four classes\, students will: \n\nlearn about the tools involved in fly tying and how each is used\nlearn about the different materials and when/how they are used\ntie 4-6 different patterns (depending on complexity)\nlearn tips\, tricks\, and techniques used by experienced tyers\n\nWith a limit of 8 tyers/session\, each student will have the time and space to receive individual assistance from the instructor\, as well as ask any questions that may arise during the course. \nNOTE: To sign-up for a session\, navigate to the first class of that session and purchase a ticket! \nThe schedule is as follows: \nSession 1 (Wednesdays in January): Jan. 8th\, 15th\, 22nd\, and 29th from 6pm-8pm @ Confluence Fly Shop \nSession 2 (Tuesdays in February): Feb. 4th\, 11th\, 18th\, and 25th from 6pm-8pm @ Confluence Fly Shop \nSession 3 (Thursdays in March): Mar. 6th\, 13th\, 20th\, and 27th from 6pm-8pm @ Confluence Fly Shop \nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Aquatic Entomology
DESCRIPTION:Our owner\, Tye\, will be teaching a FREE class on the topic of “aquatic entomology” for all those interested! Learning about the the different bugs and their lifecycles is a hugely important part of growing as an angler; understanding the feeding habits of trout\, and adjusting your flies and techniques to match seasonal variance in bug-life is a great way to improve your skills on the water! In this two-hour course\, anglers will learn to identify the different types of bugs\, visualize their lifecycles\, and understand how they fit into our local ecosystems.
