Davis Lake

Davis Lake

Cattails, lily pads, reeds. This is Bass country. If a trout sipping a size 18 parachute Adams gets you excited, you might not be able to control yourself when a 4-pound largemouth bass blows up your 2-inch-long frog popper! This is a fly fishing only lake but the use of motors is allowed. Find structure and weed beds to fish, as bass are ambush predators.

Guide Report

April 25, 2018

This is the first big warm stretch of spring, so expect bass to start getting active and in their pre-spawn aggressiveness. Leech and baitfish patters work well, but the real excitement comes from poppers on the surface. Don't be scared to fish 15lb+ tippet to bull those big fish out of the weeds.
