Davis Lake

Davis Lake

Cattails, lily pads, reeds. This is Bass country. If a trout sipping a size 18 parachute Adams gets you excited, you might not be able to control yourself when a 4-pound largemouth bass blows up your 2-inch-long frog popper! This is a fly fishing only lake but the use of motors is allowed. Find structure and weed beds to fish, as bass are ambush predators.

Guide Report

July 21, 2017

It's bass time! Popper fishing has been good early and late in dense vegetation. Use strong (20lb) tippet to prevent lost poppers and to land those big bass. Stripping damsel nymphs behind a leech on an intermediate line can give you action all day long.
